I have been working in National Institute of Plant Health Management as Assistant Scientific Officer (Vertebrate Pest Management) in the Vertebrate & Urban Pest Management Division (PB) from 02/11/2012. Over the past nine years, my research interests have focused on human resource development on rodent/vertebrate/urban pest management among field extension functionaries in agriculture, horticulture, veterinary and warehousing sectors. In addition to that I have involved as Project investigator / co-investigator for vertebrate and rodent in-house projects.

Doctorate in Zoology (Rodent Pest Management)

Having experience of above 10 years in organization various capacity training programs on Vertebrate, Rodent Pest Management and ASCI- Vermicompost producer. Involved in organising training programs in the endemic pocket of respective State or Union Territory of India to give Art of Technology to the field extension functionaries on Integrated Rodent Pest Management to tackle rodent problem in their areas.

Coordinating the training programmes, Handling of theory and practical classes on Rodents and Urban Pests and their management, Vermicomposting for trainees of different training programs, Adoptive Research on rodent pest management. Acting as Course Coordinator for 5 batches of Kerala PGDPHM (Off-campus Programme) and Guided 7 students on Vermicomposting & RPM.

Completed Projects

  • Evaluation of Bait  additives, traps for managing the rodents in poultry environs.   
  • Screening of certain botanical repellents against Wild boar management in different crops by ecofriendly methods.
  • Efficacy of locally made trap for the management of rodents in poultry premises.
  • Development of Integrated wild boar management modules in cropping system.

As a faculty of Vertebrate Pest Management Division assist in

  • Organized Vertebrate Pest Management (VPM) and Structural Pest Management training.
  • Established mass production of vermicomposting unit (windrow method, pit method, tank method, heap and HDPE method) for demonstration to the participants at NIPHM campus.
  • Published Thirty (30) journal articles, one (1) book chapter and one book in the area of vertebrates and vermicomposting in various reputed National and Internationals journals.

 

  • Attended a 2 week training course on “Ecological Management of Rodents, Insects and weeds in rice ecosystem” at International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), Las Banos, Philippines from (02 to 13th  November, 2015 ( 12 days).
  • Participated and presented a paper entitled “EVALUATION OF GERMINATED VS. NON-GERMINATED BAIT BASE FOR THE MANAGEMENT OF COMMENSAL RODENT, RATTUS RATTUS” at 4th International Conference on Rodent Biology and Management (ICRBM4) held at the Main Campus of the University of the Free State, Bloemfontein, South Africa from 12th  to 16th  April 2010.
  • Participated and presented a paper entitled “Efficacy of locally made trap for the management of rodents in poultry premises’” at 5th International Conference on Rodent Biology and Management (ICRBM) held at Zhenghou, China from 25th  to 29th  August 2014.
